“Grandma’s Recipe for a Neurotypical Child”

This hermit crab short story was written by Ace Molloy in 2023. In this piece, Ace wanted to use the format of a recipe in order to tell the story of how parents see neurodivergent children, specifically how societal expectations of neurotypical children put stress on well-meaning parents to make their children “normal.” In the form of the piece, they emulated old annotated handwritten recipes that are given from parents to children.
